01-22-2012 CVOVENANT: God Pick Us To Help! Friday, January 20, 2012 (75 reads)
From today’s Scripture readings:
Genesis 12 3 I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Genesis 17 7 I will establish my covenant between me and you, and your offspring after you throughout their generations, for an everlasting COVENANT, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.
Exodus 19 5 Now therefore, if you obey my voice and keep my COVENANT, you shall be my treasured possession out of all the peoples. Indeed, the whole earth is mine, 6 but you shall be for me a priestly kingdom and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the Israelites.”
1 Peter 2 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
One of the clear teachings of the Bible is that God makes a covenant or agreement with people whom God chooses or picks to be “special agents” in the world. To see yourself as one of “God’s chosen people” can be both a good thing and a bad thing. Explain how it could be either or a mixture. Do you see yourself as one of God’s chosen people? What’s that like for YOU? If you know or think you’re chosen, what are you chosen FOR? What are you prompted to DO about it?!
