Steve Watts
Pastor of Spiritual Formation
stevew@whitpres.org

"Spiritual Formation means being and making disciples." “The church has only one thing to do: make disciples of Jesus Christ.” Steve Watts’ ministry calls people to an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ beyond simple church activities. As Pastor of Spiritual Formation, his passion for disciple-making is evident in his speaking, teaching, and leadership. Steve’s 22 years of professional ministry have included conference directing, educational ministries, youth and family ministries, pastoral leadership, and missionary service. He is a graduate of Whitworth College and Fuller Theological Seminary. At WCPC, Steve’s goal is to support Spiritual Formation and Equipping Ministries, which are part of an emerging plan to be and make disciples of Jesus in Spokane. The Spiritual Formation ministry team includes Jolene Baldwin, the Director of Discipleship. Steve’s wife Kathy serves in WCPC in women’s ministries. They have two school age children.
Mark McIlraith
Pastor of Families and Youth
markm@whitpres.org
466-0305
The big aim in Family Ministries is to draw the family together through the bond of Christ by being and making disciples. The world desperately needs strong families. It is through families that a person primarily gains faith (not the church!). It is families that determine the health of a child’s future. It is families that make up the most basic unit of community within our culture. And it is families that are in need of support while surrounded by negative influences. Pastor Mark McIlraith and Whitworth Church addresses these issues by equipping parents, teaching youth and children, and helping families become a beacon of Christ’s light reaching out to their neighbors and the Spokane community.

Pastor Mark is a graduate of Whitworth College after which he co-founded Westminster House, an inner-city ministry in Spokane. Following 11 years as a professional actor on the west coast and in New York City, Mark responded to God’s call into ordained ministry. He graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary in 2001 and spent his first three years of ordained ministry at the First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs as an associate pastor. Pastor Mark joined us as the Pastor of Families, Youth, and Children in 2004 with his wife and three children, and is currently working on a PhD in homiletical leadership through Gonzaga University.
